It's true! Studies have shown that employees with a positive (or growth) mindset are over 55% more successful. That is why incorporating mindset practices into the workforce is becoming increasingly popular. Happier employees are more creative, productive, and eager to engage with others in team environments.
Large corporations are beginning to adopt these practices from an HR perspective. I see it differently. From a UX perspective, the employees and teams are the users, and to understand the specific mindset-strengthening tools that will work for them, we first have to understand their starting points and needs. Every employee and team is different. There is no single solution. Therefore, I use qualitative and quantitative data from employee and emotional intelligence surveys to create a unique program that strengthens team collaboration and individual mindset growth.
As we moved further away from a communal workspace, it became harder to sense the employees' mindsets and well-being. Managers were either unaware of unconcerned about internal communication issues, motivation problems, and inspiration challenges. Co-workers would vent via teams, people stopped turning their cameras on, and the morale drastically changed.
I watched top talent leave at an alarming rate, creating high employee turnover and overwhelming data transfer.
I even wanted to leave myself, but I was loyal and didn’t want to disappoint my boss. But ultimately, the decision was made for me. After four years of continuous successes and stellar yearly reviews, I was part of a layoff with no warning, no time to prepare, no compassion, and little compensation. I became another profile picture donning the green sash on LinkedIn.
I was just another number.
The story could have ended there.
I could have cleaned up my résumé, updated my portfolio, and moved on to the next corporate gig, making money while riding the crazy rollercoaster and having no idea when the floor could fall from under me.
Fortunately, I like a good challenge!
I decided to learn more about the cause and effect of these corporate decisions and methodologies on employees. I wanted to know why my negative experiences in the corporate environment had transformed me into a completely different person.
Someone that I didn’t like.
I started with personal growth and healing through mindfulness programs focused on emotional intelligence. Everything spoke to me. I wanted to incorporate my decade of knowledge of UX, my passion for people and psychology, and my interest in emotional intelligence. I quickly earned my certification in life coaching, explicitly focusing on emotional intelligence coaching.
Now, I help businesses create a thriving work culture, optimize their workflow, and increase employee retention with my 3-Phase Finding Harmony Process.
